Who's at Fault?

Now that most of the residents of New Orleans have been evacuated it is time to start the massive clean up process. The military is still getting stragglers showing up at the Super Dome but at least the worst of the evac. Is over. Over the past few days there has been massive finger pointing as to who did or didn't do their job. First things first the Mayor and governor both dropped the ball on the initial evacuation order. It is their responsibility when giving the evac order to get transportation for the people to get the heck out of there and that is one thing they never did, even though there were parking lots full of school busses that they could have used to transport people out of thee area.
2nd: The governor did not activate the National Guard when she should have, she waited much too late.
3rd: Then there is the whole Convention Center fiasco. These poor people were told there would be food and transportation for them there, and they were lied to by the N. O.Authoritiess. The buses took them there and just dropped them off to be forgotten. I don't have absolute fact but I have heard that the mayor is the authority that directed the people to the convention center.
4th: The local and state government had no plan for this type of disaster even though they were told last year the levees would not with stand category 4 hurricanes. They were given a computerized demonstration and they did not heed the warning.
5th: The Levee Commission also dropped the ball as they have not done any work to the levees over the past few years. They have bought Marina property, a plane, a boat but not the materials to strengthen the levees. So they also dropped the ball as they obviously are a corrupt organization. So to those who blame Pres. Bush for this because he cut their budget I say he needed to cut the budget, who knows what they would have bought next a NFL team?
You can point your fingers at the administration all you want but I believe you need to look at the local and state governments and how they dropped the ball before you go higher up the food chain. If the mayor and governor had done the job they put in place to do a lot of this situation could have been avoided. The one thing that really struck me during this whole disaster was where was the mayor and the governor? Well they weren't in N. O., the mayor was in Baton Rouge and the governor was cozy in her home. It shows just how much these elected officials care about their state.......not one damn bit.
I was watching Fox News Friday night and Sheperd Smith, who had been there from day one (unlike the mayor), was talking about the evacuation with the buses that convoyed in. He stated very angrily that the mayor actually had the buses diverted to pick up the tourists at the Hilton Hotel before stopping by the Superdome. Now I'm going out on a limb here but I bet most of the tourists if not all at the Hilton were white. Why would you get people who at least have comfortable beds and a roof over their head instead of going straight to the place where your constituents are stuck, you put tourists above them. Not a good move for a mayor whose constituents are pissed already.
Now I heard this morning Reverend Al Sharpton even throw the race card onto the table. Rap crap star Kanye West made an ass of him self Friday night during the benefit concert/show to help the disaster victims. And surprise surprise Air America's Randi Rhodes attacked Pres. Bush yet again. What is with these out of touch whackos who think the Administration love seeing these people suffer and get great enjoyment out of their pain and death. Then they wonder why the Democratic message is trash. I can tell you right now not one Democrat will defend the president against these horrible personal attacks. But then I don't expect any Democrat to have enough sack to do what is honorable, they haven't yet so why should they start now.
All in all we should all just rejoice that the residents of N. O. are finally out of the cess pool they formally called home. We do need an investigation from before the hurricane till now. Why did it take the governor take so long to call in the National Guard? Why didn't the maytransportationortaion set up for those with no way out? Why did FEMA take so long to get off it's ass? These and many more questions need to be answered and those responsible need to be pointed out and have the appropriate action taken. Even if President Bush slowed the process down he should be held accountable. But I think we will find out that the mayor and governor hold most of the responiblity.

Oh they will try to pin this one on Bush, but it all comes down to the state a local Governments to evacuate people. When all is said and done, They will give more energy to blaming Bush than they will in helping everyone and helping rebuild

This blog is right on---the years of bad colored government is going to catch up with mayor Ray N. and a women governor? Give me a break--what did they expect?

If Pres. Bush had gone in all guns blazing when this shit first started the Dems and liberals would have been freaking out, like Dean in front of a camera. They'd be yelling Bush is a sexist instead of racist because he took control from a woman governor. But since he took a chance and let Blanco try to run her state and failed miserably he catches the heat. The only thing Bush screwed up during this disater is he didn't kick this lousy excuse for a governor to the side and take over the entire disaster recovery himself.

okay sarge you missed the point.

If this had been during Clinton's watch and Clinton failed to end his vacation early, the conservs and repubs would be haranguing him as the dems and libs are haranguing bush now.

the reality of the situation is this: regardless of who was in office, the other side is always going to blame the other and each side will all have valid arguements.

It's just another issue of SSDD! same shit different day.

Well that settles that issue! Finally King George has done something admirable:

From CNN breaking news:

King George says he takes responsibility for the federal government's failures in responding to Hurricane Katrina.
